Shravana Somvara Rare Darshan of Atmalingam at Gokarna

The Gokarna Tirtha in Karnataka is a very sacred spot due to the presence of the Atmalinga of Lord Shiva. There are only 2 atmalingas of Lord Shiva on this planet - Rameswaram and Gokarna. This atmalinga was awarded by Lord Shiva to Ravana who wanted to take it to Lanka & worship. But the presence of Atmalinga in Lanka would make Ravana invincible and hence Lord Ganesha tricked Ravana to keep the linga here itself. In earlier days one could actually feel the softness of the linga like the heart of Lord Shiva. Only the tip of this atmalinga is now visible for darshan of devotees.
